Alone in the Dark (2024) - Convent Bookshelves

A set of modular bookshelves used in the Convent of Taroella-level of Alone in the Dark, along with books used throughout the game to fill bookshelves everywhere.

The bookshelves presented an interesting challenge, as according to the concept they line the walls of the convent from floor to ceiling. I had to come up with a modular design that would use as few drawcalls as possible, be easy to use as well as let us build shelves with a lot of variations. A mossy texture variant was made by Michelle Powell, granting us even more options!

The architecture of the Convent was made by Johan Segelstad, while the foliage and overgrowth was made by Michelle Powell.

Art Direction was provided by Rikard Ryberg.
